Short Term Accommodation

Short Term Accommodation (STA), sometimes known as Respite care, is a general term for any last-minute or planned care offered in place of the standard caregiver’s services. The simplest way to think of STA/ respite care is to consider it a short “break” from the standard care plan to enable a caregiver to leave. The leave could be a vacation, an emergency, a “mental” break, or some kind of logistical consideration.

STA is a great opportunity for people living with a disability to have a break from their daily routine with the support of highly skilled staff in purpose-built accommodation.

STA/ Respite care could also benefit the participant by presenting a change of pace, access to new experiences, and independence. The major goal of respite is to guarantee continuous quality care for the child or adult needing care without lapses. Nonetheless, “time away” could be covered regularly through NDIS if the participant’s goals focus on accomplishing more independence.
